I have made the difficult decision to retire, at the end of June 2020.  I would like to thank each of the families with whom I have worked, since leaving Seattle Children’s in 1991 to establish my private practice.

 

I have selected three neuropsychologists who have agreed to see either previous or new patients.  Here is brief summary of their credentials and their contact information:

Dr. Clancy is a Board-Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist who has 20 years of experience providing counseling and assessment services to children/adolescents and their families.  She is a traumatic brain injury specialist (i.e., concussion and more severe brain injuries) who has worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital as a rehabilitation psychologist and a pediatric neuropsychologist for 13 years.  In her private practice, Dr. Clancy evaluates children and adolescents ages 5-21 with brain injuries and complex medical conditions, as well as children and adolescents suspected of having learning disabilities and ADHD.  She also provides counseling services to children and adolescents who are experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment issues pertaining to separation and divorce, chronic illness or injury, utilizing cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness and systems therapy, which are goal-oriented and solution-focused.

Dr. Thompson is a Board-Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist with expertise in Pediatric Neuropsychology.  She works with children 4 years of age or older, adolescents, and young adults through age 30.  Dr. Thompson performs neuropsychological evaluations addressing learning, attention/executive function, behavior, emotional adjustment, and socialization.  She has expertise in the diagnosis of Learning Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, Developmental Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Neurocognitive/Neurodevelopmental Disorders that arise secondary to a variety of medical or genetic conditions (for example, Traumatic Brain Injury and 22q11.2 Deletion Syndromes).  Dr. Thompson emphasizes working collaboratively with the child’s existing support network (that is, parents, teachers, and therapists) to clarify the current issues and develop the most effective treatment plan.  Her office is in a home-like two-story office building in Edmonds, Washington.

Dr. Sanchez is a Clinical Neuropsychologist with over 25 years’ experience providing psychological services.  She is licensed in the state of Washington, has a Courtesy Clinical Faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington, and has been practicing in the Seattle area for more than 15 years.  Dr. Sanchez has extensive training in neuropsychology, including a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Washington.  She was the Director of the UW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Neuropsychology Clinic at Harborview Medical Center from 1996–2000.  Dr. Sanchez specializes in neurocognitive and other related psychological evaluations, and regularly evaluates patients with histories of head injury, tumors, strokes, learning disabilities, substance abuse, toxin exposures, pain, degenerative neurological disease and various psychiatric illnesses.  Prior to establishing her private practices in Seattle and Kirkland, Dr. Sanchez worked at major regional medical centers in Texas, Illinois and Washington, providing varied psychological and neuropsychological services.  She also has a varied research background, including projects ranging from the validity of neuropsychological evaluations with a third-party present (spouse, parent) to the work on adherence to dietary restrictions.
